Bring wellness and joy into your workplace!

Corporate Wellness

Wellness is the state of being well in all aspects of your life.

Corporate Wellness or, wellness in the workplace, is how well you are, how healthy you are, at work. This includes all the factors of wellness, such as emotional, spiritual, physical, psychological, psychosocial, financial, environmental.

Why does Corporate Wellness, or wellness in the workplace, matter?

It matters because work isn’t separate from our lives. It’s an integral part of everyday life. So wellness in the workplace is actually just, wellness. Your personal health and well-being. And I’ll say right now so it’s clear- if you aren’t happy in your job, if the values of the company don’t match your own - there are other options. You don’t have to sacrifice your values, beliefs, interests, etc. You deserve a place where you can be your radiant Self!

I spent a lot of my own career trying to mold myself into a person that fit, instead of finding/creating a job that fits ME. Through inner healing and growth, I learned, and I decided to create my own job and become a Coach. Now I help others pursue their own growth through Corporate Wellness Sessions, workshops, and one-on-one coaching.

Below is a list of common struggles at work (and topics I often cover in Corporate Wellness Sessions). I’m curious to know - how have you experienced these in your own workplace? Email me, message me on Instagram or Facebook and let me know.

Common struggles at work:

  • Burnout - Doing too much, for too long, and not resting enough. Often an amalgamation of the other struggles.

  • Stress management - Lacking the ability to manage stress in daily work situations.

  • Anxiety - Feeling anxious throughout the day, or when you don’t want to.

  • Feeling overwhelmed - Having too much on your plate. Not wanting to do the work and losing interest/focus. Lacking internal peace and serenity.

  • Boundary setting and respecting - Clear boundaries not established and not respected by yourself and colleagues. Many people have different boundaries, but they are often related to:

    • respecting time off (please don’t ask me for help when I’m sick, on vacation, or after work hours),

    • asking permission,

    • saying no,

    • interrupting workflow (I have to talk to you about this one this right now that is kind of related to the work you’re doing but not really at all),

    • prioritizing,

    • respecting workload (I know I just gave you this urgent file to work on, but here’s another one that is also urgent and a priority…) .

    • And more!

  • Work/life balance - You have none! Or very little. You put so much energy into your work, that you have little energy left to cultivate a rich personal life.

  • Trigger management - Lacking the skills to manage reactions. Experiencing feelings of anger, hate, sadness, overwhelm, etc., often intensely, at everyday work situations. A trigger can happen when we least expect it. And we don’t intend to experience intense emotions. So how can we regulate that? I can show you how ;)

  • Prioritizing the Self/self-care - Similar to lacking work/life balance, but taking it a step further. How do you care for yourself while you’re at work? What tools or skills do you have to prioritize your health while you work? How can you be productive at both?

  • Workload management - Too much work, so little time! What’s really a priority?

All of these are related. You often won’t see one without another. And they share a very big thing in common. Core beliefs!

Every individuals’ mind is formed based on core beliefs that are established when we are kids. We quickly learn how we are supposed to behave, we subconsciously form conclusions based on that, and the nervous system saves that as a template for how to act in future situations. These core beliefs are formed from the nervous system trying to keep us safe. That’s its job, after all!

The trouble is, when we get older, these core beliefs may no longer serve us.

Whether it’s conscious or subconscious, our core beliefs dictate how we see ourselves. The way we see ourselves dictates how we interact with others and the world. So, these issues at work (and in personal life!) can arise from how we see ourselves, from these core beliefs.

Introspective employees at a Corporate Wellness Session.

Let’s take a look at these common issues at work and see what core beliefs might be an underlying influencer. Consider how this can influence bringing wellness and joy into the workplace.

BurnoutI am not good enough. So I have to work really hard to prove myself.

I am not worthy. I don’t deserve a break.

Stress management - I deserve to struggle

Anxiety - I am not safe. It’s my fault. I am shameful.

Feeling overwhelmed - I can’t do this. I suck. I’m not good enough.

Boundary setting and respecting - I am not good enough. I’m not worthy. I don’t deserve this.

Work/life balance - I’m not worthy. I’m not good enough. My self-worth is determined by others.

Trigger management - I’m not safe. And whatever other core belief(s) triggered the reaction.

Prioritizing the Self/self-care - I am not important. I don’t deserve love.

And so so many other possible core beliefs.

You can see why bringing wellness and joy into your workplace starts with the individual.

We can only control our own health and wellness.

Read that again!

Andreana leading a virtual corporate session.

We are only responsible for ourselves. Who’s going to make me take a walk at lunch? ME. Who’s going to refill my water bottle? ME. Who’s going to reinforce my boundary that I don’t check my emails after work hours? MEEEEEE.

Who’s going to put my phone away when I spend time with the kids (or friends, or family, or colleagues!), to be fully present? Moi!

This is where the importance of self-awareness comes in. Another theme that often shows up in my Corporate Wellness Sessions.

Knowing yourself, knowing your needs, your desires, your limits, your boundaries, is the basis of strengthening your disposition.

These are not skills your workplace will necessarily teach you. There may be resources - wonderful! But the actual work comes down to each individual. It comes down to you, my friend! Create the life, the environment you want. Starting with your internal environment, to cultivate inner serenity. And you’ll see, action follows thought.

Many people feel depleted at work. I was that person. And now, years later, I help bring renewal and joy back into the workplace so that people can THRIVE. And not just at work. But thrive as themselves. Thrive in LIFE. Work is just a small piece of our lives. An important one where we spend a lot of time. But work isn’t the centre of your existence. YOU are the centre of your existence. You are the creator of your life, the powerful force that creates your reality. We must be able to thrive and succeed without having to sacrifice our values, beliefs, or personal boundaries.

To bring wellness and joy into the workplace means to obtain the knowledge, resources and tools to increase self-awareness, heal trauma, follow your purpose, and feel empowered to create the life you want.

It means allowing employees to prioritize themselves so that they can feel joy and be the most radiant version of themselves. With that kind of empowerment, people find where they thrive, and they can offer their gifts with more value.

How can you bring more wellness and joy into your workplace? Try to come up with at least 3 things you can do for yourself and/or for others.

Much love, Andreana
